Araminta Blue: Il Calore sulla Pelle
Curated by Riccardo Freddo and Luca Baroni
MARV - Museo d'Arte Rubini Vesin is proud to host the first museum exhibition of Araminta Blue, the celebrated British artist renowned for her emotionally charged and evocative works. Supported by Gallery Rosenfeld, this landmark exhibition will run from 20th July to 8th September 2024, offering a profound exploration of Blue’s artistic evolution and thematic depth.
Araminta Blue’s work is distinguished by its rich emotional resonance and layered narratives. Drawing on personal and collective memories, her pieces weave intricate stories that invite the viewer into an intimate dialogue. This exhibition, her first in a museum context, foregrounds the power of storytelling and the transformative impact of lived experience on contemporary practice.
The exhibition title, Il Calore sulla Pelle (Heat on the Skin), reflects Blue’s fascination with the interplay of warm and cool light. Through her work, she explores the contrasting sensations and emotions evoked by sunlight — from the comforting warmth of a summer afternoon to the crisp coolness of a winter morning. Each piece captures fleeting, luminous moments, inviting visitors to reflect on their own memories and emotional landscapes.
The exhibition presents a selection of works from the past five years, including a portrait inspired by Dante’s ill-fated lovers, Paolo and Francesca, condemned to eternal suffering in the Inferno. Legend situates the tragic love story within the castle of Gradara, intensifying the drama and historical resonance. Blue’s engagement with this narrative seeks to capture the timeless intensity of love and passion, exploring how emotions transcend both time and space.
Visitors will encounter a carefully curated selection of Blue’s most compelling works, including large-scale paintings alongside pieces from her previous two major solo exhibitions at Gallery Rosenfeld, which explored themes of movement, the human body, birth, and water. Blue’s artistic process involves working with raw canvas and oil, creating fragmented bodies that navigate the boundary between abstraction and figuration, capturing the fluidity and dynamism of human experience.
Gallery Rosenfeld is delighted to support Araminta Blue in this milestone exhibition, which highlights her remarkable ability to blend personal and universal narratives. Il Calore sulla Pelle offers audiences an unprecedented opportunity to experience the emotional depth and narrative richness that define her practice, tracing the trajectory of a young artist whose career continues to impress and inspire.
